Spirts are running high and excitement is in the air as Denver City is preparing annual Homecoming activities.
The annual event will get underway on Thursday evening with the lighting of the bonfire which will held on the corner of 15th Street and north Brady, The lighting of the bonfire is scheduled for 8PM or just as soon as the sun goes down, This is the same location as it has been for the last several years.
DCHS cheerleaders and members of the band will be in place to greet the football team as they come in on top of the local fire trucks.
Friday will feature the Homecoming princesses from each grade along with the senior queen candidates followed by a pep rally. All of these activities will be held at the Dag starting at 2:25 with the presentation of each princes and queen candidate. The pep rally will also be held at the Dag with a starting time of 3:10.
Freshman Princess is Janeli Carmona, sophomore Princess is Daniela Villa and junior Princess is India Shirley. Senior queen candidates include Moraima Villegas, Brenda Ramirez, Priscila Alarcon, Kenzi Bachman, Camry Spurgeon, and Diana Saenz.
The revealing of the Queen will be announced at halftime of the football game.
Also planned on Friday will be the traditional Little Red Wagon parade. That event will be held at the new high school and is set to start at 11:32.
The graduating class of 1969 will also be honored on their 50th Reunion. With most of their activities taking place in the home of Victor and Connie Lozano, they will have a variety of events planned throughout the weekend.
The highlight of the weekend will be the Homecoming game when the Mustangs host Reagan County Owls from Big Lake. Game time is set for 7:30.
Everyone is invited and encouraged to attend as many of the activities throughout the weekend, especially the Homecoming game on Friday night.
