DCHS UIL Students Do Well at Red Raider Academic Meet;Spelling Team Captures Top Four Places

Several DCHS UIL students competed at the Red Raider Classic at Texas Tech Saturday and did well in their individual events.

The following students, along with the Math/Science team, took Second Place overall in the 3A-4A division.

In the News event Lilyan Whaley was 2nd, Kenzi Stephens captured 3rd, and Kaitlin Stephens was 4th.

In Features Kaitlin captured 1st, Lilyan was 2nd, and Kenzi finished in 4th.

In the Editorials event Kenzi was 1st, Kaitlin came in 3rd, and Lilyan finished 4th.

And for Headlines Kaitlin was 2nd and Kenzi was 6th.

The Journalism team finished in First Place.

In Spelling the Denver City team made it a clean sweep capturing the top four places. Jacee Billings finished 1st, Chaney Wingo was 2nd, Hanna Gonzalez came in 3rd, and Britney Dyck was 4th.

The Spelling team also came home as the First Place Spelling Team.

And in the Social Studies division Gabi Alschbach was 4th.
