DENVER CITY: McLeroy – Maxwell Set New Meet Records

Cole McLeroy and Luke Maxwell both set new stadium records at the San Angelo Relays held over the weekend at the Angelo State track.

Maxwell actually set two new meet and personal records in the both the 3200 and 1600 runs. Finishing in 2nd place in the 3200 meters he was timed in 10:00 and in the 1600 he had a time of 4:33.90. The former record in the 3200 meters was 10:14 and the previous 1600 record was 4:45.55.

Meanwhile McLeroy ran a new meet record of 11:03 in the 100 meters eclipsing the old record of 11:12.

Both runners are looking to return back to state in each of these events.

Other results from the meet include Karley David winning the long jump, 3rd in the triple jump and the 200 meters, and 6th in the 100 meters; Yesenia Trinidad was 3rd in the pole vault and 6th in the high jump,; Cas Moore was 3rd in the 800 meters and 6th in 1600 meters; and Broedy Burris was 4th in the discus.

As a team the Mustangs finished in 7th place with 32 points and the Fillies finished in 6th place with 36.50 points.

Up next for both squads will be the Andrews Relays on Friday.
