It took the Mustangs almost half of the first quarter to score the first points of the game, but once they crossed the goal line they equaled that score with a second touchdown minutes later to go up 14-0 over Alpine heading into the second quarter of play.

Uriel Rodriquez scored the first Mustang touchdown with 3:35 left in the first quarter of play. Aaron Mendoza scored the second touchdown at the end of a 74 yard drive. After Juan Herrera tacked on the PAT the lead had expanded to 14-0 as the horn sounded to end the first 12 minutes of play.

Those two scores seemed to wake the home town Bucks up as they countered with their first touchdown at the 11:45 mark of the second quarter when they scored on their first play on a 71 yard connection. A missed extra point left the score 14-6.

Taking over on their 25 yard line the Mustangs went on a 75 yard march in six plays with quarterback Mario Sanchez scooting into the end zone for the Mustangs third touchdown and a 21-6 lead with 8:43 left in the second quarter.

Little did the fans know that would be the last touchdown the Mustangs would score until the 4:05 mark of the third quarter when Mendoza scored his second touchdown on a nice 35 yard run. The PAT was off to the right leaving the score 27-6.

Alpine came back with a 58 yard drive of their own finding pay dirt with just under 8 minutes left in the game. Once again the PAT was no good leaving the score at 27-12, which turned out to be the final score.

The Mustang offense churned up 307 rushing yards and 67 more through the air. Sanchez nine of this 20 passes for those 67 yards.

In the rushing department Mendoza had 16 carries for 118 yards, an impressive 7.4 yards per carry and two touchdowns. Sanchez had 13 carries for 77 yards and one touchdown, Uriel Rodriquez had 11 carries for 80 yards, Alejandro Chavarria had three carries for 30 yards, and Michael Farrell had one carry for two yards.

Chavarria had five pass receptions for 21 yards, Leonel Razo had one catch for 19 yards, Uriel Rodriquez had one catch for 11 yards, Aiden Shirkey had one catch for two yards, and Mendoza had one catch for four yards.

The Mustangs return home on Friday to take on Idalou. Game time is set for 7:30.
