Denver City OAP Advances to State Competition

After finishing as the first runner up last year Lisa Landry and her cast and crew are now officially advancing on to the state meet.

After competing at Clyde High School on Friday, April 22, the Elephant Man is now one of the top 8 plays in the state in 3A.

This marks the first time an OAP from Denver City has advanced to the state meet in 45 years, according the Mrs. Landry.

In the process of the entire play advancing to the next level individual awards were also passed out. Marlow Davis took Honorable Mention as Best Actress, Chase Sandlin took All Star Cast, and Robert Mendoza was the Regional Best Actor, which makes him one of the top four actors in the State in class 3A.

The Regional meet was the last of three performances the Elephant Man performed. After winning district they advanced to the next two levels before the Regional meet.

They will be competing at the State contest in Austin on May 25 with more details to follow as they get closer to leaving.

“Please congratulate these kids if you see them,” Mrs. Landry said. “This is an incredible honor and they have worked so hard to earn it. Thank you to everyone for your support this season!”
