94bc5b15-f537-45c4-8af8-c2196a2d0e04Funeral services for Douglas Erwin Patton, 80, will be held Saturday, April 23, 2016, at 3 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Plains, Texas, with services under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Home of Denver City. Interment will follow in the Morton Cemetery. He passed away April 18, 2016, in Denver City, Texas.

Douglas was born Feb. 9, 1936 in Morton, Texas, to Winford and Myrtle Patton. He was a farmer and did welding construction for the CO2 plants. He graduated from Morton High School in 1954 and then moved to Plains in 1960. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Plains.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Willie Merle Patton in 1953 and Sherry Swann in 2012. Douglas is survived by two sons, Kevin Patton and his wife Debbie of Haslet, Texas, and Shannon Patton and his wife Tonya of Lubbock, Texas; one daughter, Leslie Holt and her husband Dean of Arlington, Texas; one brother, Kenneth Patton of Sandia Park, N.M.; one sister, Linda Cowart of Plains; and five grandchildren, Devin Patton, Makenzie Patton, Mason Patton, Ashton Holt, and Audree Holt. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Shinnery Oaks Community Christmas Fund in Denver City.
