E V Murphy of Lubbock Texas, formerly of Brownfield Texas passed away December 16, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family. 

Services will be held Monday December 21, 2020 at First United Methodist Church in Brownfield at 2:00 pm.  Please use a mask and observe social distancing. 

E V was born on March 19, 1935 to Marion and Cecil (Lytle) Murphy in Brownfield. He attended Brownfield Schools until his graduation in 1955. He played football and ran track. He held the record for the 100-yard dash for many years.

After graduation he was employed at the Pontiac Dealership but quickly moved to Charles Darwin Ford dealership where he became service manager and part owner until 1984.  He continued to work for Ed Moseley until he retired in 2005.

He Married Jeanie Criswell in 1957 and they had three children: Jackie Murphy of New Braunfels Texas, Janet Powell of Lubbock Texas and Shelly McElroy of Portland Texas.

E V was member of the Rotary Club, Chamber of Commerce, President of the Appraisal District Review Board for 2 years, member of Lyntegar nomination committee, president of Ford Motor Co Service Managers Dallas District for 2 years, a Boy Scout leader for 3 years, member of the Board of Trustees and the Administrative Board at the First United Methodist Church Brownfield.

He was an avid hunter and sportsman, and a trap shooter. After retirement he began a second past time delivering cars for automobile dealerships and later delivering irrigation equipment for HydroFlo in Brownfield and Robbco Pumps in Idalou Texas.  

 E.V. is survived by his wife Jeanie; 3 children, Jackie Murphy, Janet Powell and husband Bob, Shelly McElroy and husband Mitch; 7 grandchildren, Jarod, Kristin, Jacey, Krista, Chase, Erika, and Meagan; 18 great-grandchildren, Connor, Korbin, Lucas, Kyle, Cameron, Hannah, Chloe, Ricky, Nana, Roman, Ki, Kaden, Kendahl, Christian,   Aumi, Miles, Paisley, and Makayla; and niece, Melba Estill.E.V. is preceded in death by his parent, a brother, D.C. Murphy and wife, Winnie.
