Election Filing Dates Set;Election Day Set for May 6

The filing period for seats on the Denver City Independent School District Board as well as the Denver City City Council started on Wednesday, January 18, and will run through February 17.

Early voting by personal appearance will be April 24 through May 2 during regular hours except on May 1st and 2nd when the hours of 8 am to 8 pm will be observed. All early voting will take place at the Denver City City Hall on 3rd and Main.

Election Day is May 6, with voting also at the City Hall.

Terms for DCISD is for three years and the City Council and Mayor’s position is a two year term.

Three DCISD board members have terms that expire this year; Bryan Sutton, Connie Lozano, and Joey Rodgers.

City Council positions up for grabs are currently occupied by Joan Breith, Ronald Weir, and Robert Hanneman. Mayor Tommy Hicks’ position is also expiring at the end of his current term.

You may file for a school board position by obtaining your paper work at the School Administration building and you if you are interested in running for one of the City Council positions or the Mayor’s position you may get that paper work at the City Hall.
