Both the Mustangs and Fillies recorded big wins on the road at Post Tuesday night. The Fillies dominated from buzzer to buzzer with a 62-27 win and the boys followed with a 47-32 win that stayed close until the 4th quarter.

The Lady Lopes went out on top first to grab a 2-0 lead, but it was all Denver City after that as they closed out the first quarter on a 16-3 run. Their halftime lead was 32-9 and they never looked back.

Jo Moore paced the Fillies attack with 11 points followed by Taylor Dial and Arielle Adams with 10 each. Karley David followed with 9 points that saw 11 Fillies in the scoring column.

For the Mustangs it was much closer than the final score indicated. The Mustangs held one point leads at the end of the first quarter and again at intermission. That lead grew to 5 at the end of three when the Ponies outscored the hometown Antelopes 16-6 to secure the win.

It was once again the play of Kade Patterson who finished with 22 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Mustangs in those two categories. Mathew De La Rosa chipped in 11 points and Estevan Mendoza added 7.

Free throw shooting was the difference in the game as the Mustangs connected on 13 of 16 while Post was good on just 3 of 13.

With the win the Mustangs secured a spot in the post season play while the Fillies had already wrapped up their spot. The Mustangs will close out the regular season in Idalou on Friday at 6 pm and will return home on Tuesday to host Slaton.

The Fillies next opponent is still up in the air as Kermit and Presidio finished tied for second in their district. A win by Presidio would put the game in Ft. Stockton next Tuesday and should Kermit win the game will be in Andrews on Monday.
