The Fillies dream season came to an end on Friday at Chaparral Center in Midland when they fell to number 1 state ranked Wall 40-19.

The Fillies started the game on the short end of a 10-0 score and in spite of an 8-0 run to end the first quarter and start the second quarter the Fillies could never get into any kind of rhythm.

The Lady Hawks used the big inside game along with some pinpoint 3-point shooters to answer the Fillies 8-0 run with a 9-2 run of their own and closed out the first half up 19-10.

The nine-point lead soon grew to 13 as Wall opened the second half scoring the first two baskets and with 5:18 left in the third quarter the lead had grown to 23-10. Arielle Adams ended that run with her third basket of the game that made it 23-12, minutes later Holly Hemmeline hit a short jumper followed by another Adams basket, but the Lady Hawks went into the final 8 minutes of the game with a comfortable 29-16 lead.

With Wall on top 31-16 Morgan Dial hit her only 3-point basket of the game with 4:34 left, but that would be the only 3-point basket for the Fillies and would also be their only and last points of the game. The Lady Hawks would then score the final 7 points and the 40-19 win.

Adams paced the Fillies with 8 points, Morgan Dial had 3 and Taylor Dial, Cassidy Esmerado, Hemmeline, and Jo Moore all finished with 2 points each. Morgan and Arielle both had 5 rebounds.

The Fillies were up against a much taller and more physical team and their shooting stats reflected that as they were only able to hit 8 of the 36 field goal attempts including 1 of 12 from beyond the arch.

On the other side Wall was able to connect on 14 of the 33 attempts including 3 of 8 from 3-point land.

Wall went on to face district rival Idalou in the championship game the next day and advanced to the state tournament with a 28-14 win over the Lady Wildcats.

Five seniors, Taylor Dial, Karley David, Kelsey De La Rosa, Jo Moore and Cas Moore, will all graduate this year, but 5 sophomores and 2 juniors will be back for next season.

The Fillies finished the season with a 21-12 record.
