Fillies Receive All District Honors

Several Fillie basketball players received All District honors following the completion of the 2015-2016 season.

Freshman Holly Hemmeline was named as a Co-Newcomer of the Year and shared that honor with another freshman from Idalou, Ashlyn Shelley.

Named to the All District first team were seniors Karley David and Kelsey De La Rosa and sophomores Arielle Adams and Morgan Dial.

Honorable Mention went to Jo Moore and Taylor Dial.

Co-Coaches honors went to Brownfield’s Clay Stout and Idalou’s Tyler Helms.

Co-MVP honors went to Courtney Hurst of Idalou and Jasmine Fields of Brownfield, Co-Offensive MVP went to Payton Brown of Roosevelt and Scout Welps of Brownfield, and Defensive MVP was Andrea Conklin of Idalou.

In addition there were 2 players from Slaton and Brownfield named to the first team, three from Idalou, and one each from Post and Roosevelt.

The Fillies finished the season with a 21-12 record and finished in 3rd place in the district standings. They advanced into post season play where they defeated Presidio in bi-district, Amarillo Highland Park in the Area round, number 2 state ranked Shallowater in the Regional Quarterfinals before falling to number 1 state ranked Wall in the Regional Semifinals.

No other Fillie team has been to the Regional tournament.
