The Fillies ran their district record to a perfect 3-0 Tuesday night with a straight-set win over visiting Littlefield. In a short 45 minute match, the Fillies offense and defense was too much for the Lady Cats as they recorded a 25-8, 25-13, 25-13 win.
The Fillies jumped out to a 15-5 first set lead that soon grew to 24-6. After two hitting errors, Moraima Villegas recorded one of her five kills to end the first set.
The second set took on a similar pattern with the Fillies going up 9-4. With Morgan Johnson toeing the service line the Fillies rattled off the next six points that included a block and a kill from Lexi Ivy to go up 15-4. Behind the serves from Jayleen Villarreal, the lead soon grew to 20-8. Marley Jordan and Holly Hemmeline served out the second set.
Littlefield started taking advantage of some Fillie errors in the third set to exchange points. With the Fillies up 8-4, the Lady Cats staged a comeback to tie things up at 9-9 and 10-10 before taking an 11-10 lead. But the Fillies regrouped and won 15 of the next 17 points to win the third set and the match.
Hemmeline paced the Fillies on the offensive side with 11 kills. Ivy was next with six followed by Villegas with five. Villarreal had 29 assists. Defensively Hemmeline had 15 digs and Johnson came up with 10. Ivy finished the match with four blocks. Villarreal had seven aces and Hemmeline finished three.
The Fillies upped their season record to 33-2 to go along with their perfect 3-0 district mark and they will be on the on the road Saturday facing a dangerous Shallowater team. On Tuesday they travel to Brownfield before returning home on Saturday to play Idalou.
