Floy Ruth McWilliams Brown, age 93, passed away in Abilene, Texas on Sunday, March 8, 2015 at her home in Wesley Court Nursing Center.

Floy was born on February 4, 1922 in Brownfield, Texas to Scott and Nola McWilliams. Floy grew up in McCamey, and after business school was employed for a number of years as a secretary in the land department of Pure Oil Company in Midland, where she met and married George Reynolds Brown, Sr. of Colorado City, Texas on March 27, 1948.

She followed her late husband many places with Texaco Company, including Midland, Wichita Falls, Fort Worth, New York City, Tulsa, Calgary and Alberta, Canada, and Lagos, Nigeria. Upon her husband’s retirement from Texaco in 1979, they moved to Horseshoe Bay and in 2000 moved to Manor Park in Midland. Floy was a member of First Presbyterian Church while in Midland.

Floy was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years; two children, daughter Ellen in infancy, and son George Reynolds Brown, Jr.; her parents; three brothers, W.R. (Bob) McWilliams, Walter Scott McWilliams and W.P. McWilliams; and her three sisters, Pauline McWilliams, Elizabeth Richardson and Dorothy Cregg of Abilene.

Survivors include two sisters-in-law, Myra Robinson of Big Spring and Lucy Saye of Clarendon; nieces and nephews: Charles Cregg of Tulsa, OK, Wesley Cregg of Moore, OK, Letty Rucker of Abilene, Robert Richardson of San Clemente, CA, Scotty Kucala of Placeville, CA, Keith Richardson of Single Spring, CA, Cindy Mosser of Greenville, TX and Debbie Swink of Seminole, Florida, and many other loving nieces and nephews.

Floy expressed special thanks to her niece, Letty and her husband Dean Rucker, for all of the good advice, love and help since her son’s death.

Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene. Graveside services will be held in Colorado City Cemetery in Colorado City, TX on Wednesday, March 11, at 3:00 p.m. with Scott Davis officiating.
