Graveside services for Garlon Eastman, 93, of Seagraves will be at 11:00 am, Thursday, August 2, 2018, in the Gaines County Cemetery Seagraves, Texas. Viewing will be from 8:00 am to 9:00 pm, Wednesday, August 1, 2018, at the Ratliff Funeral Home in Seagraves. The family will receive friends from 3-5:00 pm. Officiating will be done by Nathan Nash, burial is under the direction of the Ratliff Funeral Home.

Garlon died Saturday, July 28, 2018, in the Seminole Health Care Center. Garlon was the longtime owner of the Dixie Dog in Seagraves, Texas. He was born to the late Jake and Allie Watkins Eastman January 19, 1925, in Mason. He married Imogene Brown December 1954 in Lovington NM. She died March 12, 2011. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Staff Sargeant in the 24th Medical Batallion. He was a member of the 12th Street Church of Christ in Seagraves. While operating the Dixie Dog for over 30 years Garlon and Imogene employed more than 400 persons including many high school and college students. The Dixie Dog was more than their business it was their life and they valued the many relationships shared through the years. He was preceded in death by a son Nick and a sister Margaret Anderson and a brother Marvin.

Survivors include a sister Alla Ree Cherry of Georgetown, a son Phil Nash and wife Leslie of Lubbock, three grandchildren April Taylor and husband Kevan, Emily Long and husband Chancey, and Nathan Nash and wife Rachel and seven great-grandchildren.

The family expresses deep appreciation to all those who loved and supported Garlon and Imogene in their closing years. A special appreciation is extended to the staff at the Seminole Memorial Health Care Center who always greeted “Red Wing” with a hidy, hidy, hidy. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Senior Citizens Center in Seagraves where Garlon and Imogene shared great food and conversations with their life-long friends.
