Grape harvest is going on around the county for a few. Many are saying their grapes will be later than usual.
It has been a tough couple of years for High Plains grapes. Late freeze, long freeze, hail, and dicamba damage have made it a hard year on area grape vines.
Some lost all this year’s crop due to a hail back earlier in the summer.
But, on Wednesday morning, the harvester moved into Castano Prado Vineyard, owned by Tom and Linda Hesse and Tere Caswell. The Albarino were ready to harvest.
These Albarino will go to McPherson’s Winery in Lubbock.
Other vineyards are gearing up for harvest and hoping and praying that it will deliver much more than they expect.
