Happy Easter…

Though it was blustery and chilly, Yoakum County Library in Plains held its annual Easter egg hunt on Wednesday, March 23, 2016. Those who braved the wind were Ethan Moya; Jordy Bell; Nathan & Jadon McAdams; Johan Neudorf; Berhard Friesen; Ariah, Avery, and Andi Coronado; Ethan Garcia; Agatha Harms; and Aries Jasso.

The group’s time began with examining the calendar, observing the weather, and singing the days of the week. Pledges to the United States and the Texas flags were patriotically recited and then a fun chant called “A Book! Bok Bok!” was learned. The youngsters also grabbed some egg shakers for a few interactive songs: “Popcorn Kernels,” “10 Little Easter Eggs,” and “If You’re Happy and You Know It, Give a Shake.” The book reading selections for the attentive kids were “Easter Mice” and “Minerva Louise’s Colorful Eggs.”

After bundling up, the children excitedly grabbed their baskets and walked to the courthouse lawn for the official hunt to begin. With a section for friends three years old and under, the brightly-colored eggs dotted the landscape like cascarones’ confetti on a sidewalk! The race didn’t take long and the victors returned to the library’s Heritage Room for a look at their bounty and to enjoy extra food goodies. The party time was filled with two video selections “Ruby’s Easter Bonnet” and “Max’s Easter Parade.”

The StoryTime group welcomes children of all ages and their caregivers each week during the regular school year at 10 am at the Yoakum County Library in Plains.
