Hazel Dumas (February 14, 1918 – January 07, 2019)

Our beloved Hazel Thelma Dumas, 100, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on January 7, 2019. A funeral service will be held at 2:00p.m., Thursday, January 10, 2019 at the Assembly of God Church, Haskell with Bro. Carl Amburn officiaing. Burial will follow service at Willow Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes. A visitation is planned from 6:00-8:00p.m., Wednesday, January 9, 2019, at the funeral home, 304. N. 2nd St., Haskell, TX.

She was born on February 14, 1918 in Dekalb, Texas to Cora Mae (Hall) and Burrell Shaddock. She was a very devoted Christian woman that loved the Lord, and taught Sunday School. Before moving to Haskell, Hazel lived most of her life in Brownfield. She married Dorman Dumas on August 8, 1963 in Brownfield, TX. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, canning, and making doll furniture.

She is survived by her son, Roy Butler Jones of Stephenville; step-daughter, Royda Gerner of Palm Desert, CA; two nieces, Glenda Payne and husband Danny of Haskell, and Jeanelle McGregor of Temple; seven grandchildren; and two step-granddaughters.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Cora; father, Burrell Shaddock; husband, Dorman Dumas; two brothers, Bill Shaddock, and J.C. Shaddock; and sister, Rachel Dunn.
