The Knights of Columbus work to honor local first responders

The Knights of Columbus sponsored a luncheon in honor of all the first responders of Terry County, as well as all of those who served at Ground Zero on September 11, 2001.

The luncheon began outside with an introductory speech from Don McWhorter remembering the events of 9/11 and all of those that served. He, then, introduced the Color Guard who stood in salute as the crowd recited the National Anthem. Don McWhorter closed the introduction in prayer before welcoming the crowd into the American Legion Memorial Amphitheater for food. Those in attendance were members of the local EMS, the Fire Department, the Brownfield Police Department, and the Sheriff’s Department, as well as employees of the City of Brownfield.

It is always good to see communities getting together to honor those that work to maintain peace in situations where, like McWhorter stated, “others run the other direction….”
