Hylo Jean Hughes

Hylo Jean Hughes, 89, of Lubbock, passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2018. She was born in May of 1928, to the late Floyd U. and Maudie P. Gregston, in Corum, Oklahoma.

She was a graduate of Ryan High School in Ryan, Oklahoma and obtained her Bachelor Degree from Texas Tech University in 1966. Jean married George T. Hughes on January 24, 1948 in Ryan, Oklahoma and he preceded her in death on March 26, 2017.

She taught elementary school in Levelland, Andrews, and Denver City for 20 years. She was a faithful member of Bacon Heights Baptist Church, where she was also a member of the Open Door Sunday School Class.

Jean is survived by a son, Larry T. and wife Gail, Hughes of Pleasanton, TX; a daughter, Janice Gail Hughes of Lubbock, four granddaughters; Melissa Bowen, Allison Kerin, Christina Hurley, Amber Thieme and one brother, Dale Gregston of Tulsa, Oklahoma.

A visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home on Sunday, January 21, 2018 from 1-3 pm. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held at Bacon Heights Baptist Church at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 22, 2018. She will be privately interred at Resthaven Memorial Park.
