November 03, 1938 – January 13, 2022

The family of Irma Rexrode will celebrate her life of 83 years at  1 pm on Wednesday, January 19, 2022, followed by a time of fellowship at the Greenlawn Church of Christ.

Irma was born at home on the farm in Clarendon, Texas on November 3, 1938, the baby of 12 kids to Alfred and Lucy Langford. She grew up not having a lot, sharing a bed with a few sisters, wearing her older brothers’ jeans, and using ears of corn wrapped in a blanket as her baby dolls.  She was so grateful for the discipline she received and for being raised in a Christian home knowing the Lord, with tons of love from her family.

They eventually moved to Tulia where she would graduate high school and met her sweetheart Don in the youth group.  She went on to receive her cosmetology certification after high school and worked for many years as a beauty operator.  Before Don and Irma were to be married, they came to a disagreement and talked to their preacher about it who advised them to always think about how Christ would handle the situation and never go to bed angry.  They both took the advice to heart as words to live by and were married on January 29, 1960, by minister Paul Epps.

They moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma for a few years and then to Brownfield, Texas where they settled to raise their three children, Kelly, Angie, and Monty in a God-centered home full of love.  No matter what challenges they faced they always had words of wisdom that made any storm feel much calmer.  On April 18, 2020, Don went home to be with the Lord and Irma continued to be the pillar of strength and grace knowing that with Christ she would get through it.  She talked to Don’s picture often and told the Lord, “Whenever you want me, I’m ready and okay with that.”  Now she’s joined her sweetheart in heaven, where there is no more sorrow.

Survivors include her children, Monty (Laurie) Rexrode, Kelly Rexrode, Angela (Jack) Romans; grandchildren, Chelsea Gallaway, Shawn Rexrode, Samantha Rexrode, Jami Slim, Jenna West, Jessica Slim, Kolton Rexrode; great-grandchildren, Austin Gallaway, Callie Gallaway, Jaxson Gallaway, Gracyn Gallaway, Laken West, Liam West, Mariam Jawhari, Fouad Jawhari; siblings, Delbert Langford; Bonnie Stone, Bess Reed, and Jean Love.
