James Benford (JB) Jobe (1932-2018)

James Benford (J.B.) Jobe of Brownfield, passed away Tuesday, October 30, 2018. Graveside services will be held Friday, November 2, 2018, at 2:00 pm in Terry County Memorial Cemetery followed by a Celebration of Life service at First Baptist Church of Brownfield at 3:00 pm. Dr. Matt Baird will officiate, assisted by the Reverend Steve Carter.

There will be a family visitation at Brownfield Funeral Home from 6-8 pm Thursday, November 1, 2018.

J.B. was born in Terry County, Texas on February 23, 1932, to Vallie (V.O.) and Essie Johnson Jobe. J.B. was a servant at heart – he served in the military during the Korean War, he served as President of the Evening Lions Club from 1970-71 and served as a mason of the local Brownfield lodge. He was an instructor of Industrial Tech at Brownfield Middle School and Brownfield High School until retiring after 23 years in 1994. He was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church Brownfield, serving as a children’s Sunday School teacher, VBS worker and usher.

J.B. is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Cabbiness Jobe; his sister, Theda Davis and his parents. J. B. is survived by his two children, Eldon Jobe and wife, Vivian of Brownfield; Suzie Kerley and husband, Max of Miles; four grandchildren, J.J. Jobe (Pam) of Tomball, Trent Jobe (Loren) of Brownfield, Kendra Douthit (Christian) of Lubbock and Andra Gruver(Michael) of Ft. Worth; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Jayne Rackley (Sonny) of Brownfield and brother-in-law, John Cabbiness (Sandy) of Gun Barrel City.

Our “Daddy” and “Grandad/Gdad” will live forever in the hearts of many.
