obit_placeholder_05James Kemp, 81, of Brownfield, Texas, passed away on May 12, 2015. James was born on June 14, 1933 to the parentage of Lonnie Camp and Frances Reed in Gilmer, Texas. His mother married Henry Polk and relocated to Brownfield, Texas. James eventually moved to California and worked in construction, then to Alaska where he worked on the Alaskan Pipeline. James enjoyed life and traveling. He returned to Brownfield to be with his mother, family and friends. All who knew him will truly miss him. James was preceded in death by his parents, Frances Reed Polk and Lonnie Camp; sister, Lonnie Thomas. He leaves to cherish his memories: his daughter, Patricia Kemp; stepdaughter, Antha R. Jones; sons, Ricky, David and Kim; stepson Tommy Hines; sister, Yvonne Demans; special friend, Napoleon Wilburn; two grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Celebration of life services will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at 11:00 am at Greater New Hope Baptist Church in Brownfield. Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Visitation will be held today, from 1 – 5 pm at Griffin Mortuary.
