Janelle Pharr was born on December 15, 1932 to John and Katie DuBose Thompson in Tokyo, Texas.  Janelle grew up in Brownfield with her parents and four brothers.  She was a twin to John, and they shared a special and close relationship throughout life. She graduated from Brownfield High School in 1950, and played the clarinet in the marching band.  She then graduated from Draughon’s Business College in 1952. She married Harold Ray Pharr on November 23, 1952 in Lubbock. He was the love of her life for 59 years. She pursued a career in bookkeeping until 1969 when she and Harold formed Pharr RV’s.  She retired from Pharr RV’s in 1998.

She was a longtime member of Oakwood Baptist Church.  She loved the Lord Jesus Christ with all of her heart.  She and Harold traveled all over the United States in their RV. They especially loved going to Colorado to visit her brother Neil and sister-in-law June. They also traveled extensively overseas while in the RV business visiting Israel, Hong Kong, and Paris. They did everything together for almost 60 years.  One of Janelle’s greatest joys in life was raising her five children. She was very involved in all her kid’s school and social activities, serving as den mother and class parent. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the apple of her eye. She also enjoyed attending her Brownfield High School class reunions, and continued her lifelong friendship with The Brownfield Ladies.  Her hobbies included reading, watching westerns, Texas Tech football & basketball, as well as visiting with all her family and friends. She dedicated her life to God and her family and friends. She loved, and was loved by all who knew her. Her greatest gift in life was always serving others.

Survivors include her children, Jimmy R. Pharr and wife, Marinda; Johnny K. Pharr and wife, Sharon; Jerry M. Pharr and wife, Lorna; Jacky P.
