Jean Bonham ObituaryJean LaVerne Lewis Bonham, age 84, entered into eternal peace on Monday, June 6, 2016 at her home in Houston, Texas, in the arms of her loving husband.
As a young girl LaVerne lived in a little shack out in the sticks of Burleson County some 15 miles north of Caldwell Texas. At the age of 14 the family moved to Seagraves, Texas for her dad to have work in the oil fields. While she was a sophomore and Bill Bonham a Junior at Seagraves High, they became school sweethearts. That remained until Bill was called into the army in 1951. While stationed in Germany, Bill’s dad had a life threatening stroke and he was sent home on an emergency furlough. While he was at home, they were married on November 20, 1952. They have been married 64 years. LaVerne had a short career in banking before having to give in to health issues. Her life was raising her faimly.
LaVerne was preceded in death by her father, Dan Lewis; mother, Ethyl Lewis; brother, Horace Weldon; brother, Lonnie Lewis; and sister, Louine Childress. She is the last of her family.
She leaves her loving memories to be shared by her husband, Bill Bonham; son, Carl Bonham and wife Mary; son, Dale Bonham and wife Camille; and three grandchildren, Ryan, Ross, and Lauren. Then there is her puppy, Daisy 13, that she loves very much, and not to say the least there is Kittie.
God’s angel has gone home.
Visitation will be held 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 10, 2016 at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home, with the Celebration of Life Funeral Service to follow at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Earthman Resthaven. Interment will then be at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery.
