Terry County grape grower Jet Wilmeth was honored at the Texas Wine Grape Growers Association meeting this week in Irving. Jet was awarded the President’s Award for contributions to the grape community and industry. He was given the award by TWGGA President Patrick Whitehead of Blue Ostrich Winery.
Jet has learned much about the grape and wine industry through the years. He is very knowledgeable about the industry and always willing to share his knowledge with others. Jet and his wife Gay have over 100 acres of grapes and grow Alicante Bouschet, Cabernet Sauvignon, Gewürztraminer, Merlot, Montepulciano, Mourvèdre, Muscat Canelli, Riesling, Viognier and Zinfandel.
Jet and Gay began growing grapes in 2000 with five acres of cabernet sauvignon, and have grown their Diamante Doble Vineyard since then.
Jet and Gay continue to give back to the community through various efforts and are very active in the grape and wine community. Congratulations on this great honor!
