Jimmy Carlton Sterling (1941-2018)

Jimmy Carlton Sterling, 76, of Brownfield, passed from this life on September 13, 2018. Jimmy was born in November of 1941 in Paris, Texas to the late Ruby and Earl Sterling. The family moved to Seagraves in 1951. He married the love of his life, Bernice Allen, in 1958.

Jimmy graduated from Seagraves High School in 1960. He was employed by Columbian Carbon Company for 8 years, Shell Oil Company, in Denver City, for 26 years, and served as Justice of the Peace for Gaines County for 5 years. He retired and moved to Brownfield in 2004. In life, Jimmy loved his family and all the family pets.

He was preceded in death by his father, Earl, in 1975, a grandson, Terry Allen Ferguson, in 2002, and his mother, Ruby, in 2011.

Jimmy is survived by his wife, Bernice, 3 daughters; Carla McDaniel, Bliss Sterling, and Cathy Sterling, 2 grandchildren; Tiffani Sterling and Mark Trey Sterling, 4 great-grandchildren, sister Carol House and nephew, Mickey Sneed.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge in Seagraves.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, September 18, 2018, at 1:00 PM at Resthaven’s Abbey Chapel in Lubbock. The family suggests memorials to First United Methodist Church of Seagraves, Seagraves Masonic Lodge, or the Senior Citizens Center in Seagraves.
