John David Gilliam (1966-2018)

John David Gilliam, 51, of Denver City, Texas passed away Monday, November 5, 2018. John was born December 30, 1966, to Donald Carlton and Janice Rose Gilliam in Brownfield, Texas. He spent most of his childhood in Plains, Texas until his family moved to Midland, Texas in 1981 where he attended Greenwood High School and then graduated from McMurry University in 1991. After several years of teaching and coaching, John settled down in Denver City, Texas where he was employed by the City of Denver City. John was preceded in death by his parents, Donald Carlton Gilliam and Janice Rose Gilliam, brother Benjamin Carlton Gilliam, niece Sandy Brooke Franklin, and great-nephew Justin Caleb Johnson. He is survived by his siblings Johnnie Gunby Shaw of Lubbock, Texas, Donald K Gilliam, Jennifer Franklin, and Jamie Gilliam, all of Midland, Texas, Ronnie Hice and Rhonda Nelson of Winthrop, Arkansas, Nancy Nelson of Paris, Texas, Karen Walters of Odessa, Texas; his aunt Rita Fannin of Denver City, Texas, and host of nieces and nephews. The family invites John’s friends and loved ones to come and celebrate his life with them at a memorial luncheon on Saturday, December 1, 2018, at noon at the Comfort Inn, 910 West I-20, in Midland. They also request that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the SPCA.
