Josie Skupin passed away on July 2, 2021, at her home near Sherman, Texas.

Josie was born on July 21, 1928, in the Harmony community near Brownfield, Texas, to Joseph Ralph Chisholm and Annis Bell (Bruce) Chisholm and raised by her father and step-mother, Hazel Chisholm.

The Chisholms and their many relatives owned several local businesses including the grocery store, hatchery and gas station, where all the families pitched in to help. Josie often shared vivid memories of West Texas where she learned to treasure faith and family.

In 1948, Josie met  and married Charlie Skupin, a dashing Texas Czech man who had moved to the area. They farmed near Rosebud, Texas, for several years before returning to Brownfield where they ran several businesses and raised five children. Upon retirement, they moved to Southlake, Texas, and then to the Sherman area.

Josie was an appreciator of the beauty of life including gardening, poetry, music and the written word. Her interests were broad and included genealogy and history. She found joy through her church and delighted in her family. She always looked for ways to add a personal touch to every relationship and was loved for her quick wit and sense of humor.

Josie is predeceased by her husband Charlie Skupin and is survived by by her children, Michael Skupin and his wife Florence, Jane Shook, Jill Skupin Burkholder and her husband Dan, Jon Skupin and his wife Annette and Tim Skupin and his wife Dawn.

Josie is survived by her brother Bruce Chisholm and his wife Onagene, her brother John Chisholm and his wife Linda, her sister Marjorie Buck and her husband Charles and her brother, Claudio Chisholm and his wife Virginia. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Josie is predeceased by her brother Larry Chisholm.

Her grandchildren are Katie Skupin, Becca Skupin, Sam Skupin, Allie Skupin and Anna Skupin.

Funeral services will be held at 10 am, July 9, 2021, at Western Heights Church of Christ, Sherman, Texas. Burial will follow at Georgetown Cemetery in Pottsboro, Texas.
