Julia Darlene “Judy” McCullough

julia-mcculloughJulia Darlene (Judy) McCullough passed away unexpectedly on Friday, Sept. 9, 2016, in Buda, Texas, following a long battle with dementia. She was 72 years old. Judy was born Saturday May 20, 1944 to James Otis and Mattie Lila (Taylor) Weir in Lubbock Texas.

Judy is survived by her daughter, Keri Lynn Fenton and her husband, Kevin; her son, John McCullough and his wife, Karla; grandchildren, Kirk Fenton and his wife, Tiffany, Keith Fenton, and Kraig Fenton and his wife, Laura and Hayden McCullough. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Chris, Calynn, Corbyn, Sean, Naomi and Eli; as well as her brothers, James Weir and his wife, Bea and Tommy Weir and his wife, Mary; brothers-in-law, Dennis McCullough and wife, Stephanie, Len McCullough and wife, Anita and sister-in-law, Dale Benson and husband, Bob. Julia was preceded in death by her husband, Hoyt and three of her siblings.

Judy married Hoyt McCullough in Aug. of 1962 and started their family in Lubbock, Texas. They made their life together farming in Denver City, Texas where she lived until seven years ago. In Denver City she was a homemaker and a member of Trinity Baptist Church where she played piano. She never met a stranger and loved playing piano, watching Judge Judy and Andy Griffith reruns, crafts, flower arranging and cake decorating. Judy was rarely seen without her Dr. Pepper and loved sweets. Old hymns held a special place for her. She loved to cook and travel and her favorite trips were to Hawaii.

Friends and family are invited to a time of visitation on Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2016, at Harrell Funeral Home, 1715 Kirby Lane, Kyle, TX from 12 to 2 p.m. Funeral services will immediately follow at 2 p.m. in the chapel at Harrell Funeral Home, 1715 Kirby Lane, in Kyle, TX. Graveside services will follow on Friday, Sept. 16, 2016, at 1 p.m. in Denver City, Texas, where she will be interred next to her dedicated husband, Hoyt in the Denver City Memorial Park.
