The junior varsity Fillies remained perfect in district play with a big come from behind 10-8 win over Post Tuesday on the Lady Antelopes home turf.
The Fillies once again jumped out to an early 4-0 lead after one inning of play and added one more in the 4th after Post had come up with 3 runs in the 2nd and 3rd innings. The Lady Lopes took a 6-5 lead with three runs in the bottom of the 4th inning, but the Fillies jumped back in front with five runs in their half of 5th inning and then stifled a Post rally in the bottom of the 5th to win the game.
Jackie Escalante, Karmin Villegas, Paola Verdugo, Becca McCleskey, Sabrina Velasquez, Victoria Garcia, Mariana Polano, and Daphney Castillo all had one hit in the game.
Villegas had three RBI’s and Polano, Garcia, Velasquez, and Escalante all had one RBI.
McCleskey picked up the win giving up eight runs on seven hits, struck out eight and walked one.
The Fillies will host Roosevelt on Saturday and then will travel to Brownfield on Tuesday.
