The JV Fillies came up with 8 runs over the first 3 innings and held off a late Roosevelt rally for an exciting 8-7 win over the Lady Eagles on the Fillies home turf.

The Fillies did all their damage in the first 3 innings only to see Roosevelt come back with 5 runs in the top of the 3rd and 2 more in the 4th inning.

The Lady Eagles outhit the Fillies nine to six, but 3 Roosevelt errors led to 2 unearned Denver City runs.

Daphney Castillo led the Fillies with 2 hits while Trista Gooch, Samantha Diaz, Cheyenne Beach, and Diana Herrera all had 1 hit.

Beach and Castillo both had 2 RBI’s while Diaz and Herrera each had one.

Becca McCleskey went the distance for the Fillies giving up 7 runs on 9 hits, struck out 7 and walked three.

The win kept the Fillies undefeated in district play with a 4-0 record.

They will travel to Brownfield on Tuesday.
