Kayla Marie Dawson was born on March 2, 1992 in Levelland, TX to Gary and JoAnna Dawson. She went home to her heavenly Father on August 6, 2021, in Corpus Christi, TX. Kayla graduated from Brownfield High School-BEC 2010, where she was on the first softball team at Brownfield High School. She grew up on the softball fields, playing just about anywhere she could play. Because of her love of the game, she became an umpire like her dad. She graduated from LCU with an associates degree.
Kayla’s sparkling personality and love for life led to a career in hospitality. She was the Events Coordinator/Food and Beverage Director at the Holiday Inn Marina in Corpus Christi, where she was loved by her staff and management. Kayla never met a stranger and believed in hard work to better yourself. With a smile on her face, Kayla was her family’s back bone during good or bad times. Kayla was always thinking of others. She was an organ donor and had recently signed up for stem cell donation.
She is preceded in death by her grandmother Billie Jo Gruben; grandparents, JB and Judy Dawson; uncles, Claudie, Jr. and Epkie Gruben, Marvin and David Dawson and Aunts Sherry Gruben, Connie Dawson and Dian Dawson.
She is survived by her beautiful children, Kamarie Dawson and Bodey Bartlett; parents Gary and JoAnna; brothers, Darryl and Tyler; grandfather, Claudie R. Gruben; uncles and aunts, Charlie and Pam Dawson, Carl and Jan Gruben; a numerous cousins.
Memorial services will be held at the Brownfield Funeral Home Memorial Chapel Thursday, August 12, 2021, at 4 pm. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening, August 11, 2021, from 5 to 7 pm at the Funeral Home Chapel.
The family will receive visitors, after the service, at residence of Mike and Pebble Dawson at 1625 CR 480, here in Brownfield. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you to donate to her childrens’ memorial fund at Brownfield Federal Credit Union, 201 West Hill St., 806.637.2751.
