Kenneth Wayne Burnett, 79, of Eastland went to be with the Lord on Friday, October 13, 2017, in Abilene, Texas.

Kenneth was born November 1, 1937, in Bokchito, Oklahoma, to Reuben Burnett and Dollie Mae Wells Burnett. He grew up in Seagraves, Texas and graduated from Seagraves High School. He married Martha Hunt on December 27, 1957. They had two daughters, Kella Gaye and Karen Clarene. Kenneth managed Bill’s Welding Supply in Hobbs, New Mexico, and Denver City, Texas for thirty years. He also worked as a route operator in Mt. Pleasant, Texas and Durant, Oklahoma for Flower’s Baking Company for ten years, and eventually retired in 1999. Kenneth and Martha enjoyed antiquing and collecting walking canes. They also enjoyed working in the garden and playing SkipBo.

After the passing of Martha, Kenneth remarried to Pat Elliott Burnett on February 18, 2006. Kenneth was a lifetime member of the Church of Christ and served as a Deacon for nine years at Daugherty Street Church of Christ. He prepared the men’s prayer breakfast, and his delicious handmade biscuits were always appreciated. Kenneth and Pat helped coordinate the churches service center from 2006-2015, and enjoyed delivering soup and chili to Tarleton State University students. They also enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, and camping.

Kenneth was proceeded in death by his parents; his wife, Martha; his daughter, Kella Henderson; his grandsons, Crey Henderson and Fodie Green; and his sisters, Jewel McWilliams, Christine Ervin, Wanda Durham, Irene Smith, and Velma Bishop.

He is survived by his wife, Pat; daughter, Karen Crutcher and husband Doug of Tyler; son-in-law, Eddie Michael Henderson of Alamosa, CO; brothers, Edward Burnett of Simms, Don Burnett of Lake Brownwood, Carl Burnett of Keller, Gary Burnett of Creemoore, NC, Dural Burnett of Winnsboro, and Phillip Burnett of Van; sisters, Doris Gilliam of Atoka, OK, Cynthia Ivonoski of Victoria, Judy Henningsen of Covington, LA, and Theressa Harper of Moyer, OK; aunt, Ruthie Burnett Spoon of Elk City, OK; grandchildren, Cody and Heather Henderson of Odessa, Kenzi and Jermey Anderson of Tyler, Ky and Whitny Crutcher of Tyler, Chali Henderson of Austin, Paul and Stephanie Killingsworth of Fort Worth, Krystal Walraven of Prosper, Kandi and Jarrod Cumba of Weatherford, Joe Deck of Arlington, Kaley Craig of Coleman, Avery and Erin Elliot of Cisco, Destiny and Jonathan Barrera of Mineral Wells, and Bobby Boggs of Breckenridge; great-grandchildren, Cadence and Cason Henderson of Odessa, Kaitlin and Everett Parker of Odessa, Kamden Crutcher and Maryn Anderson of Tyler, Presley and Ellie Crutcher of Tyler, Molly Andre, Weston and Korbin Killingsworth of Fort Worth, Jermi and Damon Barrera of Mineral Wells, Raelyn Green of Breckenridge, Lillith and Luke Cumba of Weatherford; and one great-great-grandson, Channing Wood of Odessa.

A visitation was held at Edwards Funeral Home in Eastland, TX, on Sunday, October 15, 2017 from 5:00PM to 7:00PM. Services were Monday, October 16, 2017, at Daugherty Street Church of Christ in Eastland, TX, at 10:00AM. Burial followed services in Loop, TX, at 4:30PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Fosters Children’s Home in Stephenville or Christians Children’s Home in Portales, New Mexico.
