kenneth-hornDr. Kenneth Wayne Horn, 66, passed away on Friday, Dec. 16, 2016 at home in Plains. Born and raised in Littlefield, Texas, to N.C. and Joan Horn, Ken answered the Lord’s call to enter the ministry and received his D. Min from Luther Rice seminary. During his 50 year ministry career, Ken pastored several churches- preaching in Abernathy, Plains, Duluth, MN, and Fellowship Baptist Church in Levelland. Ken was a Hospice Chaplain for over 20 years.

He was no stranger to death- spending the last decades of his ministry devoted to helping individuals prepare for their last days, and aiding their families through the bereavement process. In the course of his ministry, Ken officiated thousands of funerals throughout the South Plains. He was a light to those in dark times, and a disciple to all. He ministered to people during a time most others would have avoided. He was blessed with a heart to serve others in the midst of their grief and sorrow, and was able to bring comfort and strength to untold numbers of families. He leaves behind a legacy of service and sacrifice.

He was preceded in death by his father. Ken is survived by his wife, Jan; his mother; his brother; his sister; as well as his nine children; and nine grandchildren. Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 21, in Plains Cemetery in Yoakum County; his brother, Wendell will be officiating. Kenneth Horn will be in state at Resthaven Funeral Home on Monday, Dec. 19, and Tuesday, Dec. 20.
