The Lady Cubs were back in action Tuesday night at Roosevelt needing a win to stay within one game of the district leaders. Shallowater and Idalou both sit at 10-1 in district play.
The Lady Cubs outmatched the Lady Eagles from the beginning with solid defense and outstanding shooting. There was no doubt that the Lady Cubs were looking to score early and score often as they hit six three pointers in the first half and were 4 of 5 from the line. (Insert surprised emoji face LOL) Not only was the shooting impressive, the Lady Cub defense was so solid that the Lady Eagles only scored six total points in the first half.
The second half was even more exciting as the Lady Cubs were able to drain nine more three point shots for a total 15 for the game. This could possibly be a school record.
The Lady Cubs ran away with the victory by a score of 79-17, improving to 9-2 in district play. Three Lady Cubs reached double digits in scoring. Dabria Blackwell led all scorers with 28, followed by Gabi Fields with 25, and Ashley Ramirez with 12. Rebound leaders were Gabi with 7, Tia and Deja Johnson with 6 each, Morgan Silva with 5, and Dabria and Raelee Garza with 4. The Lady Cubs will head to Littlefield on Friday, with game time set for 6:15pm. Listen to the game live on the TownTalk Radio app.
