The Lady Cub Volleyball team entered Tuesdays nights district volleyball game 0-1 after falling to rival Denver City in three games to start district play.
The Lady Cubs struggled in game one falling to the Lady Cats 27-25 in a back and forth battle. The struggles continued in game two as the Lady Cubs fell behind 13-7 before rallying to win the game 25-21. It was all Lady Cubs after that as the won the next two games 25-20 and 25-22 to take the match.
The Lady Cubs finished the match with 77 digs led by Junior Maddison Hord with 24 of those while Gabi Field and Libby Guerra had 10 digs each. Dabria Blackwell led the team in set assists with 15 while also adding 7 kills and 13 digs. Sophomore Tia Johnson led the team in kills with 16 kills followed by her sister Deja Johnson with 12 kills.
After the game coach McFarland commented “I am proud that the girls did not give up after losing game one, we really needed this win to gain some confidence moving forward.”
The Lady Cubs will play at BHS Saturday Oct 5th against Shallowater who is 1-0. Come out and support the Lady Cubs starting at 10am with the JV A and B teams followed by the varsity at 11am.
