Lady Cubs wrap up District Championship

The Lady Cubs defeated Littlefield in a sweep on Saturday morning. The team had already wrapped up the Championship, but wanted to complete their undefeated District Championship win. And that is exactly what they did. The count was 25-11, 25-13, and 25-21.

Even though Littlefield tried to put a little scare into the Lady Cubs on the third set, the girls would not be denied and wrapped up the sweep of the match and the sweep of District.

Gabi Fields led with 22 assists. Lindsey Herrera had 12 digs. Tia Johnson had four aces and Deja Johnson had 10 kills on the day.

Head Coach Mallorie Ellis stated, “I was glad to put them away in three. They have some pretty good hitters and we did a good job of keeping them out of their system, so, they did not get many swings! The girls are really ready for the playoffs.”

The Lady Cubs will head south for their post season run. They will likely face Tornillo, possibly at Kermit next week. Currently there is a tie in District 4 for 4th place. The game will be played on either November 1 or 2.

The Lady Cubs lost in the Regional Semi-Finals last year to Holliday 25-17, 25-20, and 25-22.
