Image-37072_20150429Leora Nell was born Sept. 22, 1938, in Coke County to Buster and Vera Burson.

She passed away on April 25, 2015, in Robert Lee Care Center.

Visitation will be held all day Thursday, April 30, 2015, at the funeral home with family present from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 1, 2015, at Robert Lee Baptist Church with interment to follow in Robert Lee Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home/Robert Lee.

Nell started school in Green Mountain when she was five- years-old and graduated from Robert Lee High School in 1956. After graduation she attended Angelo State.

Nell married James Maurice Robertson on Aug. 30, 1957, in San Angelo. To this union was born a daughter, Leora Kathleen Robertson; and a son, James “Jim” Maurice Robertson Jr.

In 1966, she followed her husband into the ministry with Emmanuel Pentecostal Church here in Robert Lee being their first pastorate. They also pastored in Portales, New Mexico, North Platte, Nebraska, Kerrville, Texas, and Brownfield, Texas, with two of the churches being “home mission” works! While in North Platte, Nebraska, she served on the Ladies Ministries Board of the United Pentecostal Church International. They retired from the ministry Dec. 27, 2014, while in Brownfield, Texas.

Nell was preceded in death by her father, Buster Burson; her mother, Vera Burson; and her mother and father-in-law, J.B. and Samantha Robertson.

She is survived by her husband, Rev. James M. Robertson Sr.; her daughter, Kathleen Robertson and friend Frank Sparks; her son and daughter-in-law Jim and Latitia Robertson, missionaries to Warsaw, Poland; four granddaughters, Chv’ana Robertson, Kaylah and Justin McGee, Tessa Robertson and Kandra and Marcus Elzely; and one great-granddaughter, Emellia Kate all of Cooper City, Florida. Also surviving is her sister, Betty Beaver; two brothers and sister-in-law Bub and Sissy Burson, Jerry Burson, her sister-in-law Leta Aldridge, brothers and sisters-in-law Harold and Mary Robertson, Doug and Peggy Robertson and Doyle and Sandy Robertson. She also has several nieces, nephews and cousins.
