Gina Caswell Kelly
I have a gorgeous gold bracelet I like to wear. Mike Kelly got it for me long ago. It is the most intricate work. The bracelet looks like it has well over one thousand pieces intricately woven together. Very detailed. I don’t even know how to adequately describe it. But, there is one little piece that has shifted just a bit out of place. And this causes problems.
When I wear this bracelet, that one little tiny piece catches on everything I wear. It snags, or hangs on my sleeves or snags on threads on whatever blouse I am wearing. So, if I wear it, I run the risk of snagging and ruining a blouse or other top. Just that one little piece can damage a really nice top, if I am not careful. That one little piece can keep that bracelet in my jewelry box and not out being used.
This is the same way our churches work. We are all intricate parts of one beautiful thing. But, if one part decides to get out of place, it can cause a problem with everyone else and the way things work inside the church. It causes snags. It causes tears. (Both tears and tears!) Things just don’t work like they ought to.
In my case, I need to take my bracelet to the jeweler and get the little piece put back into its place. In the case of churches with pieces out of place, they all need to go back to the Master. The One who created them, and let Him put the piece back in place so everything will once again work like it should.
God’s great plan works best when each member of His body is doing what they are supposed to do, and serving Him with all they have. We are called to unity. We are called to be His hands and feet on this earth. To best do what He has called us to do, we must work together.
Your life is the same way. You have to serve God with all your heart. In fact, He says that. “You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.” Matthew 22:37. He needs us to be all in. He needs us to be His with all that we have. We can’t keep that one little piece of our heart hanging, or problems will occur.
God wants believers wholly dedicated to Him. Serving Him daily. Loving Him daily.
Are you wholly devoted to Him, or do you have that one little piece that catches on everything? True devotion to Him makes the difference.
