On November 3, 1939, Margaret Nell was born to Woodrow and Dorothy Hartsfield in Wichita Falls, Texas. She married Perry Lockett on December 21, 1962, in Wichita Falls, Texas. He preceded her in death on March 10, 2006. On August 29, 2009, she married Dale Johnson in Lubbock, Texas.

Margaret’s early years were spent being very involved in church with her family, and as a nine-year-old girl, she gave her life to Jesus and faithfully served him throughout her life. She attended high school in Wichita Falls, Texas, and then went to Hardin-Simmons University, earning a BBA in Religious Education and Secretarial Science. She was a member of the Cowgirls organization and enjoyed many different aspects of student life there. While in college, she met Perry Lockett, whom she later married. Together they raised their children, Leigh Ann, Todd, and Lauren, in Brownfield, Texas, faithfully serving in their church and community. Margaret took pride in being a homemaker for a good part of her life and helping Perry on the farm. She also worked in the administration offices at Brownfield Independent School District as well as First Baptist Church. Upon retiring and moving to Lubbock in 2001, Margaret and Perry enjoyed volunteering in organizations such as Word of Hope and Hospice.

After Perry’s passing, she married Dale Johnson in 2009. Margaret and Dale enjoyed traveling together and spending time with family. Dale was a loving and faithful caregiver, especially during the last few years.

Margaret will be remembered for her beauty inside and out. She obtained a generous spirit, never speaking an unkind word of anyone. She truly exhibited the fruit of the Spirit. She faithfully served her family, which was the joy of her life. We will forever treasure the Christian legacy she has left behind and will hold dear every memory in our hearts.
