Meadow hosts Memorial Day Service

by admin

The Annual Meadow Memorial Day Service was held on Monday, morning, May 31 in the First Baptist Church of Meadow. It is normally held at the Meadow Cemetery, but due to weather conditions, it was moved indoors. If you have never attended this ceremony, make plans now to attend next year.

A really good crowd was on hand for the very moving tribute to those who gave all in service to our Country.

Ray Gober and Robert Henson gave opening remarks. The National Anthem was played as honor was given to our Nation’s flag.

Johnny Najera gave the invocation.

Dan Jackson then read the names of those veterans buried in the Meadow Cemetery (Not just those who died in service) and there were well over 100 names read, including two had fought in the Civil War and then moved to Texas.

Dan led a responsive reading before sharing some war stories told to him by WWII veterans. He gave a very moving talk on honoring those who have paved the way before us, in order for us to have the freedoms we enjoy.

Pastor Greg Breedlove gave a benediction.

A meal was served to all in attendance.
