Meadow HS Student Will Keep Cheering

This afternoon one student from Meadow High School signed her intent to continue to do what she loves. MHS Senior Kamryon “Kam” Cavazos signed her letter of intent to cheer for Lubbock Christian University. With her mom, dad, and other family surrounding her she took the pen and signed to continue to do something she loves to do. Kam who has been cheering for MHS now for four years, previously did competitive cheer for seven years.

“I’m excited to get back to the competitive cheer scene.” said Kam, talking about joining the LCU Cheer program. LCU just recently in March 2021 won a second consecutive competitive national title, all girl team division, through the Christian Cheerleaders of America Collegiate Championships. There are teams who compete from 20 states.

Kam’s cheer sponsors Jasmine Flores and Tanya Turner are very proud of her. “We are very excited for Kam and what she is going to do and believe she’s in the right place.” said Flores. Turner added saying, “We are proud for her and the hard work and commitment she has put in paid off for her.” Kam will of begin at LCU in the Fall of 2022. Kam plans to study nursing at LCU which the Department of Nursing at LCU offers both an RN/BSN and two MSN degrees, plus Education/Leadership and Family Nurse Practitioner. 

When asked why Kam chose LCU, she talked about when she was in competitive cheer, “there were a lot of our instructors and those who helped where on the LCU Cheeer Team.” Kam went on to say, “I’m very thankful for this opportunity and I want to thank my mom and dad for not letting me quit and continuing to encourage me.”
