Meadow Volunteer Fire Department Adds To Its Fleet.

The Meadow Volunteer Fire Department added a firetruck to their fleet on Friday, June 10, 2022, and held the traditional “Push-In” for the new truck. The push-in ceremony dates back to the 1800s when horse-drawn steamer engines were being used. The horses would not walk backward when they are under a load. So, when a new steamer or mobile fire apparatus was delivered to a firehouse, the assigned members would have to push it into the firehouse. The MVFD did just that.

The MVFD has been a huge help to the county for several decades now and of course, the help they give to the Brownfield Fire & Rescue and the Wellman Volunteer Fire Department does not go unnoticed. The same goes for BFRD and WVFD as they also help out each other and MVFD. Although the firetruck that MVFD obtained is not brand-new, it will be a huge help for their fire dept.

According to MVFD Chief Lloyd Seely and Assistant, Fire Chief J’Bob Jowers, they very are blessed to have a truck like this to serve the community. MVFD now has 19 firefighters in the department of which 2 are certified full-time guys and 6 which have their intro/firefighter certification through the state Firefighters and fire Marshals (SFFMA).

“Tonight (Friday, June 10, 2022) the Meadow Volunteer Fire Department got to “push-in” their new fire truck. I want to thank each and every one of the volunteers for their sacrifice, service, and dedication to our city. We are truly blessed,” said Meadow Mayor Natalie Howard.
