Senior Mustang running back Aaron Mendoza, who will be returning as the Mustang tailback and outside linebacker, recently attended the Blue- Gray combine held in Sugar land on May 11.
This a combine that is put on by coaches that evaluate High School Football players and ranks them as part of the college recruiting process.
Depending on how well the athlete does, they have a chance to compete at a Super Regional Combine at AT&T Stadium. Aaron was invited to the Super Combine in Arlington on June 29-30.
Last year, as a junior, Aaron was the Mustang leading rusher for the 2018 Season and the Offensive MVP. He was also a 1st Team All District selection at outside linebacker.
“We are excited to see how this combine goes and the entire Football staff would like to say congratulations and good luck to Aaron,” stated head Mustang Coach Daniel Fontenot.
With two-a-days practices just around the corner Mendoza will join his other teammates in getting ready for the 2019 season. The Mustangs will enter the season as the defending district champions where they advanced to the Area round before falling to Eastland.
The entire backfield will be returning along with the bulk of both the offensive and defensive line making them a favorite to repeat as the district champion. They are part of a four-team district that includes Brownfield, Kermit, and Tornillo.
