On Monday, Feb. 18th, 2019 TownTalk brought you what we thought would be the final filing list of candidates for the upcoming municipal and local elections. According to an email received from the Terry County Joint Elections Administrator Krystal Valentin, there has been an updated filing situation. This is what the email stated
“Tresa Sparks has
withdrawn from the May 4, official 2019 General Election. Therefore thepositon of Council Member District 4 will be uncontested and Michelle Cooper will be declared Council Member of District 4 after the election.”
With Tresa Sparks withdrawing her candidacy from the City of Brownfield District 4 campaign this will now leave four contested races which are BRMC Board of Directors, City of Brownfield District 5, Meadow ISD Board of Trustees, and Wellman-Union ISD Board of Trustees. TownTalk reached out to Sparks, and when asked does she have a comment, she said, “I have no comment.”
CANDIDATES SET FOR MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS, FIVE CONTESTED RACES
Early voting for the Local/Municipal General Election is set to begin on April 22nd, 2019. The dates and time for early voting are; Monday, April 22nd, 2019 thru Friday, April 26th, 2019 from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and Monday, April 29th, 2019 thru Tuesday, April 30th, 2019 from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Election day is Saturday, May 4th, 2019 from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
