The Mustangs took part in a very tough Midland tournament last weekend dropping three of their four games against some of the best competition in West Texas.

They started play with a 100-46 loss to Birdville and a 91-52 loss against Midland High. They came back the second day defeating Midland Lee JV 59-28 before losing to Euless Trinity in their final game 51-36.

In the Birdville game Estevan Mendoza led the Mustangs with 16 points and Nathaniel Cruz who had 10 points. Riley Boyd tossed in six points, Damian Gutierrez had five points, Mathew De La Rosa chipped in three points, and Everado Navarrete, Nick Garza, and Josh Mills all had two points.

In the Midland High game Estevan had 14 points, Emmanuel Zubia had 12, and Nathaniel Cruz chipped in 10 points. Also entering the scoring column was Darron Pacheco with six points, Josh had three points, and Nick and Mathew both finished with two.

Against Midland Lee JV Estevan once again led the Mustangs with 15 points as nine Mustangs entered the scoring column. Josh had eight points, Emmanuel, Everado, and Braden all added seven points, Nathaniel and Darron chipped in five points, Nick had four points, and Mathew finished with three points.

And in their final game against Euless Trinity Mathew led the way with 14 points, Estevan had 11, Riley and Emmanuel both finished with four points, and Nathaniel had three.

The Mustangs hosted Pecos on Friday and then will host Snyder on Tuesday. After taking a short break for Christmas they will take part in the Brownwood tournament on December 28-30.
