Nativity StoryTime!

Yoakum County Library in Plains added to the Christmas theme with nativity books on Thursday, December 6, 2018. “Days of the Week” song and the pledges to the United States and Texas flags started the time off. The group then grabbed some jingle bells to sing the song and act out a rhyme called “Five Little Christmas Bells.” Those in attendance were Ariah, Andi, Avery, Aaron, Kenzie, Graden, Jed, and Saige. Aaron was the book door prize winner.

The book “Christmas is Here” by Lauren Castillo was the first reading. The second book was newly-released “A Savior Is Born: Rocks Tell the Story of Christmas” which was an artistic rendering of the Nativity story through real-rock illustrations. “Christmas in the Barn” by Margaret Wise Brown was the last book shared with the youngsters.

A couple of craft options were presented to the group. Each got to glue red craft pom-poms onto paper plate wreaths for a take-home game. The children also used their tiny fingertips dipped in paint to put some color on ornaments to be shared with new friends next week at our Christmas around the Square. The video selection was a portion of VeggieTales “The Christmas Star” to highlight the Nativity theme.

Next week StoryTime starts at 10:00 instead of 10:30 and will be a special outing to the Courthouse and Plains State Bank to search out Christmas decorations. (Please dress accordingly for the weather!) Then the group will return for a Christmas party of our own at the library, being dismissed from the library by 11:15. Children of all ages and their caregivers are welcome to join us!
