New Basketball Rankings, Lady Cubs & Lady Cats Fall

by Eric

Last week the Brownfield Lady Cubs basketball team sat at #1 in Class 3A according to TABC and were on 24 game winning streak until that came to an end this past weekend at the Canyon tournament where they fell to #2 2A Gruver 52-46. However, the Lady Cubs came back and won over Trinity 67-35. As would be, now the Lady Cubs are sitting at #4 behind #1 Canadian, #2 Shallowater, & #3 Jim Ned. The Wellman-Union Lady Cats found themselves in the Class 1A TABC Top-25 at #21 last week, however, played a tough and fast Lorenzo squad and lost. They did however redeem themselves by winning over Southland on Friday evening. The Lady Cats are still in the top-25 sitting at #24. Boys basketball in Terry County, the Brownfield Runnin’ Cubs, Meadow Broncos, & Wellman-Union Wildcats basketball teams have not cracked the top-25.

Tonights matchups includes home games for the Brownfield Runnin’ Cubs vs #19 Childress, tip-off time at 6:00 p.m. and the Brownfield Lady Cubs taking on the #1 2025 recruiting prospect Aaliyah Chavez & Lubbock Monterey Lady Plainsmen with a tip-off slated for 7:30 p.m.

The Meadow Lady Broncos & Broncos basketball will travel to Stanton with a 6/7:30 p.m. tip-offs. The Wellman-Union Lady Cats & Wildcats travel to Sands to take on the #1 Lady Mustangs and Mustangs with a 6/7:30 p.m. tip-offs.
