Services for Ola Mae Johnson, 89, of Brownfield will be held at 10am Saturday, March 14, 2015 at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Carter and Rev. Pat Riley officiating.
Visitation will be held from 6-8pm on Friday, March 13, 2015 at Brownfield Funeral Home.
Ola who was also known as Memaw, Mrs. Johnson and Mom was born on September 27, 1925 to Walter Dean and Florence Mae Mckee in Cottonwood, Kaufman CO, TX. She married Arlie Ray Johnson on December 30, 1948. They later moved to Childress until moving to Brownfield in December 1966. Ola was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, where almost everyone called her Memaw. She worked at Brownfield High School for 20 years. She did not graduate from High School, but she received her G.E.D. at the age of 64. She enjoyed a mission trip to Poland in 2003 with her twin sister Lola. Ola is preceded in death by her husband, Arlie Ray; a son, Robert Allen; parents; 3 sisters and 7 brothers.
Ola loved to laugh and she always had a smile for everyone who needed one. She loved family game nights and the senior game day. She crocheted Afghans and tops for dish towels. She loved fishing and playing 42, crazy bridge, canasta and whatever game we played especially when we made up our own rules or “Johnson rules”.
Ola is survived by 2 sons, Garvis Wayne Johnson and wife Nancy and Jerry R. Johnson and wife Patricia both of Brownfield; 2 daughters, Donna K. Bond and her husband Terry of Lamesa and Ronna F. Millican and her husband Robert of Brownfield; 9 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren; a great- great grandson ; a brother, Billy Wayne and wife Helen of Livingston, TX and a host of neices and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to Interim Hospice or Calvary Baptist Building Fund. The family would also like to give a special thanks to Dr. Paul Chebib, Interim Health Care and Brownfield Rehab and Care.
