Our Promise Youth Academy plans reopening

Executive Director of OPYA Ernesto Elizardo is excited to announce that OPYA will be opening for the summer beginning on June 15. Hours will be from 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. to start and could possibly be expanded at a later date. “We established these hours for now and once we see that we are doing well with our numbers and following guidelines, we will look at expanding those hours.”

Hot lunches will begin on June 1 and will be served to go for any child under the age of 18. These meals will be served at the OPYA building from 12 -1 p.m. each weekday.

Elizardo told TownTalk Radio, “I am excited to get to open up again and serve the kids, as well as this community. We have been dealing with so much. I think it will be great for the kids to finally get to spend some time with their OPYA family. I know it will be challenging to practice social distancing, as a young kid, but I know we are all capable of adjusting so that this will all work out.”

No word on any changes in the cost was available. Elizardo stated that would be released later next week, possibly.
